BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF METRO LOS ANGELES CHALLENGER’S MAKER SPACE, 2021
Los Angeles, California
Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles Challenger’s Maker Space is a 1,500 square foot interior renovation of an existing space housed within the headquarters of the organization. The project provides both a cutting edge technology lab as well as a social space for visitors to engage in collaborative creative projects. The design subdivides a large room using figured color blocks that offer three distinct moments of retreat or performance. Bright colors are implemented to inspire creative zones for small group brainstorming while a blue screen corner offers a stage for broadcasting to a larger audience outside the walls of the room. Colors wrap the floor, ceiling, soffit and walls in an effort to bracket these spatial and experiential zones.
