PLOP: A PUBLIC POTTY, 2022
Anywhere, USA.
According to a “Public Toilet Index” released in August 2021 by the U.K. bathroom supply company QS Supplies and the online toilet-finding tool PeePlace, the U.S. has only eight toilets per 100,000 people overall[1]. Without accessible sanitation services, including bathroom services and available clean drinking and bathing water, cities find themselves in an increasingly severe public health crisis. Plop, a lightweight yet long-term solution to the problem, offers a private place for the sanitation needs of the public. Made from a combination of post-consumer recycled High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) and standard construction methods (wood framing, metal sheathing and fiberglass paneling), Plop can be sited anywhere the need for public sanitation arises.
