WAREWEAR, 2021

Architecture & Design Museum One Object at a Time Exhibition - Los Angeles, California

WareWear is an object. It has made cameos as a vessel that holds things, a midrise that houses things and now as a part of a larger unknown whole. WareWear is perched on stubby legs, standing unsteady while supporting a potbelly. The headless torso teeters on the ground indicating its upright orientation within a world that abides by a cartesian grid. Within the exhibition WareWear’s anthropomorphism may vanish. Or it may shuffle like the Potato Head style game, swapping parts, offering unforeseen qualities and relationships between its inherent material and formal traits. Made of many parts though camouflaged behind its technicolor fur, Ware suggests that the legibility of many can be reduced to one with the right outfit.
